Why We Updated Our Childhood Asthma Action Plans

Following the GINA 2026 Strategy Report, our clinic has revised the written asthma action plans we issue to parents. The key change is an earlier step-up trigger: families are now advised to start the reliever-plus-ICS step as soon as early warning symptoms appear, rather than waiting for a more pronounced flare. We've also simplified the traffic-light format so it reads clearly even during a stressful night-time exacerbation. If your child has an asthma action plan from us dated before this year, please bring it to your next visit so we can update it together.
